Mr Georgios Kontos FRCOphth, FEBO, CertLRS, MBA
I graduated from the University of Crete, School of Medicine. As a student I attended elective placements in Ophthalmology at the Boston Medical Center and Vancouver General Hospital. I completed my final year clinical placements at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm Sweden. Subsequently, I relocated to the United Kingdom where I completed the MSc "Biology of Vision" at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology in London.
I held Ophthalmology training positions in England, Scotland and Wales before acquiring a National Training Number at the Oxford Deanery. I completed the UK Ophthalmology Specialist Training Programme and was awarded the certificate of completion of training (CCT).
In parallel with my training I completed a PgCert in Medical Education from Cardiff University as well as a Postgraduate diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery from Ulster University. I studied for an MBA at the Warwick Business School. I published published a small number of scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and has acted as a reviewer in relevant topics. I volunteer as an examiner for the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
I have completed post CCT Fellowship training in Glaucoma, Cornea, Cataract and Anterior segment at the Oxford Eye Hospital. Furthermore, I have completed the Glaucoma fellowship at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. I am currently undergoing further fellowship training in Cornea at UBC. My subspecialist interests include medical and surgical cornea, refractive surgery, medical and surgical glaucoma and cataract surgery.
